Handgun Qualification License (HQL) Course
An HQL is required in Maryland to purchase a handgun. The state requires at least four hours of instruction from a Qualified Handgun Instructor, and the course includes live fire at the range.
- Maryland firearm laws that apply to handgun owners
- Safe storage and home firearm safety
- Handgun mechanisms and safe operation
- Live fire at the range, under instructor supervision
USCCA Permit Training for Virginia and Florida
Some states accept a course from a USCCA Certified Instructor for their concealed carry permit, without requiring the instructor to be licensed in that state. Our USCCA-taught training is accepted for permits in Virginia and Florida.
Other states may accept it too. Requirements differ by state and change over time, so always confirm with the state's issuing agency before you apply. Ask us if you are not sure about a particular state.
Is a Maryland permit valid in other states?
Some other states honor a Maryland Wear and Carry Permit. The USCCA keeps a current, state-by-state map of reciprocity and gun laws.
